HubSpot is a horizontal global CRM sold on breadth and brand trust; Solar Spine is built for Indian rooftop solar EPCs with stages, payment tracking and DISCOM net-metering baked in.

HubSpot brings a free tier, 2,000+ integrations and AI agents that answer questions against live CRM data. An Indian rooftop EPC or C&I installer gets a blank generic pipeline and must build the entire solar workflow (stages, checklists, kW fields, payment schedules, DISCOM tracking) from scratch with custom objects and hand-written workflows.

In short

HubSpot is a US-headquartered CRM (founded 2006, Cambridge MA) that sits at the centre of a 'customer platform': a free CRM core surrounded by six separately-licensed Hubs (Marketing, Sales, Service, Content, Data, Revenue) plus a newer Agent Hub of AI assistants. It ships no industry vertical: no solar, no construction, no EPC. It targets startups and small businesses on breadth of function and integration depth. The pricing page lists 2,000+ native integrations plus 8,000 more via Zapier. It sells to 299,000+ customers across 135+ countries.

For an Indian rooftop or C&I EPC, HubSpot's gap is vertical: zero solar domain model anywhere on the public site. No solar sales stages, no install stages, no PM Surya Ghar, no DISCOM net-metering concept, no kW field, no conditional checklists that change with loan or subsidy type, and no roof-design or shading-analysis tool. Every EPC coming from Zoho or a spreadsheet into HubSpot faces the same job: build the stages, properties, workflows and checklists manually, from scratch, to mirror what a rooftop or C&I installer actually does.

The India money stack has real gaps. HubSpot's own payment processor (HubSpot Payments) cannot onboard India-incorporated businesses at all — it serves the US, Canada and UK only. An Indian EPC cannot generate a GST-compliant invoice to its own customers from a HubSpot CRM record, and cannot gate material dispatch on payment collected; HubSpot markets no such workflow. Automated overdue-invoice reminders have applied to every HubSpot user since August 2025, but collecting the payment itself means connecting Stripe instead of HubSpot Payments and stitching together Invoices, Quotes and Payment Schedules rather than getting one built flow. Pricing scales per seat in USD with no published INR list price, and Professional and Enterprise tiers carry mandatory $1,500 to $3,500 one-time onboarding fees. Data hosting is US, Canada, Australia or Germany only, with no India region.

Where HubSpot wins

  • An evergreen free tier (no credit card, no expiration, up to 2 users and 1,000 contacts) is an extremely low-friction top-of-funnel compared to Solar Spine's 30-day trial. It comes backed by 20 years of brand trust, G2 and TrustRadius review volume, and a documented security and trust centre.
  • Breadth across sales, marketing, service and content, backed by two thousand native integrations plus eight thousand more via Zapier, means a startup or small business can avoid building or stitching together separate point solutions for each function.
  • Breeze's AI agents generate marketing content and automate prospecting research, and answer natural-language questions across marketing, service and sales data together — Solar Spine's own ask-the-business tool answers similar questions from live data, but only for sales and operations, and only for the director and general manager.
  • A mature pre-login marketing machine with compare pages naming Salesforce and Zoho, ROI calculators, case studies, near-daily blog output and review badges drives and nurtures inbound demand at a scale a young vertical product cannot match.

Where Solar Spine wins

  • Solar Spine ships seven solar sales stages and 17 solar project stages seeded on day one. HubSpot gives you a blank pipeline. An EPC must hand-build stages, properties and workflows to match the actual work — loan milestones, DISCOM applications, PM Surya Ghar subsidy tracking, net-metering paperwork for seven Indian electricity boards (BRPL, BYPL, TPDDL, PVVNL, NPCL, DHBVN, UHBVN).
  • Solar Spine's stages carry conditional checklists, 57 items in total, that branch on loan type, subsidy scheme and DISCOM. HubSpot has no loan or subsidy concept; you hand-build conditionals with workflows.
  • Solar Spine tracks kW (system capacity) as a native field with kW-based reporting on dashboards and targets. HubSpot has no kW primitive; you create a custom property and build custom dashboards.
  • Payment schedules per project (10/70/20, or whatever you agreed) are native in Solar Spine; due dates and outstanding balance are visible to all roles. HubSpot's Commerce Hub Payment Schedules feature exists but requires Stripe, since HubSpot Payments itself is unsupported for India-incorporated EPCs. Material dispatch gates on payment collected in Solar Spine; HubSpot has no concept of gating dispatch.
  • An Indian EPC can issue GST-compliant invoices from Solar Spine and receive automated overdue-payment reminders as one flow. HubSpot has no native path for an India-incorporated business to invoice its own customers from a CRM record or to gate any workflow on payment state.

Best for

Startups and small businesses that need a free CRM with broad marketing, service and sales automation under one roof.

Not for

An Indian rooftop or C&I solar EPC that needs out-of-the-box solar stages, kW tracking, DISCOM net-metering, payment schedules, GST invoicing and ops verification — or any vertical business in a country HubSpot does not host in or support with local pricing.

Pricing

HubSpot

Sales Hub is priced per seat in USD across four tiers: Free (up to 2 seats), Starter ($20/seat/month monthly or $7/seat/month annual), Professional ($100/seat/month plus a mandatory $1,500 one-time onboarding fee), and Enterprise ($150/seat/month plus a mandatory $3,500 fee). HubSpot publishes no INR list price. Converted at ₹84/USD, Starter runs ₹1,680/seat/month or ₹588 if billed annually. Professional is ₹8,400/seat/month (₹7,560 annual) plus ₹1,26,000 setup. Marketing Hub (a separate product) runs ₹67,200/month (Professional) and ₹3,02,400/month (Enterprise), each with its own onboarding fees. For comparison, Solar Spine is ₹10,000/workspace/month flat, unlimited users, no setup fee, no scaling with headcount.

Feature by feature

CapabilityHubSpotSolar Spine
Solar-specific
Solar sales and install stages out of the box
No. Sales Hub ships only generic, fully customisable deal pipelines and stages. No solar-specific sales or install-stage templates exist anywhere on the marketing site.
Yes. 7 sales stages and 17 project stages seeded on day one, all editable.
Stage checklists that change with loan, subsidy and DISCOM
No. No per-stage checklist logic that changes with loan, subsidy or DISCOM type. Only generic required-property gating and manual task lists, which would be hand-built with custom properties and workflows.
Yes. 57 checklist items; loan, subsidy and DISCOM-specific tasks appear only where they apply.
DISCOM net-metering steps tracked
No. No DISCOM, net-metering or Indian electricity-board concept anywhere on HubSpot's site. Would require fully custom objects and properties built by the customer or a partner.
Yes. Net-meter paperwork branches for BRPL, BYPL, TPDDL, PVVNL, NPCL, DHBVN and UHBVN.
PM Surya Ghar and subsidy tracking
No. No mention of PM Surya Ghar or any India rooftop-solar subsidy scheme on HubSpot's site — expected, since HubSpot is a horizontal global CRM with no India-solar vertical content.
Yes. PMSG submission, DCR certificate, GBI and central subsidy redemption as dated tasks.
kW as a native field with kW reporting
No. No native kW or system-capacity field or kW-based reporting. A customer would have to create a custom deal or company property themselves.
Yes. Every deal and project carries capacity; dashboards and targets report in kW.
Roof design, shading and proposal generation
No. No roof-design, shading-analysis or solar-proposal generator. HubSpot's Quotes and CPQ tool produces generic price quotes, not engineering proposals.
No. Solar Spine does not do roof design. Use a design tool and track the job here.
Execution
Tasks written automatically with due dates when a stage opens
Yes. Workflows (Sales Hub Professional and above) automatically create tasks with due dates when a deal enters a stage or a property changes.
Yes. Nobody types the checklist; each task carries the date it was given when the stage opened.
Overdue work escalates up the org chart on its own
Partly. Workflows can notify or reassign to a manager on time-based or overdue triggers, but there is no built-in org-chart escalation ladder — each path must be hand-built per workflow.
Yes. Every night a late task climbs one rung and keeps climbing until someone acts.
A stage cannot be advanced with open checklist items
Partly. Sales Hub Professional+ lets admins mark specific deal properties as required to progress a stage, but that is field-level gating, not gating on task-checklist completion.
Yes. The advance button is unavailable until the stage's items are closed.
Documents verified by ops before work proceeds
No. Document tracking exists, but there is no evidence anywhere on the site of gating stage advancement on a document being uploaded and ops-verified.
Yes. A document is done when ops marks it correct; a rejection goes back to the person who photographed it.
A different first screen per role
Partly. Dashboards and permission sets are fully customisable per user or team, but there is no prebuilt distinct first-screen per role; each must be built and assigned manually.
Yes. Nine roles, nine first screens, from telecaller to director.
Field use on a phone: photos, tasks, call outcomes
Partly. The mobile app supports call logging, task management, notes and an offline business-card scanner, but nothing solar-install-specific like a structured site-photo checklist.
Yes. Every screen works on a phone; documents are photographed at the customer's house.
Money
Instalment schedule per project
Partly. HubSpot ships a native Payment Schedules feature on Quotes that splits a project into an initial payment plus milestone or date-based instalments with auto-generated invoices. It requires Commerce Hub plus a connected processor, and HubSpot Payments itself cannot onboard an India-incorporated business.
Yes. 10/70/20 or whatever you agreed, with due dates and outstanding balance visible to all.
Material cannot dispatch until payment is collected
No. No concept of gating material dispatch on a percentage of payment collected — not a manufacturing or EPC workflow HubSpot markets or supports.
Yes. Thresholds per stage, set by the workspace; the default is the one the first customer ran.
Daily overdue payment alerts to owner and manager
Partly. HubSpot's Invoices tool (available on all plans) tracks due dates and balances. Automated email reminders for overdue invoices were expanded in August 2025 from Payments-only to all HubSpot users, so an Indian EPC gets automated overdue reminders even though HubSpot Payments itself is unavailable.
Yes. 7 am every day, to the person who owns the collection and their manager.
A bounced cheque reopens the instalment
No. No cheque-bounce or instalment-reopen concept exists anywhere on HubSpot's site or documentation. Not a scenario the product models.
Yes. Yes
GST invoices and quotes from the same record
No. HubSpot charges and remits GST on its own invoices to India customers as a registered OIDAR provider, but the tool an EPC would use to invoice its own customers (HubSpot Payments or Commerce Hub) cannot onboard India-incorporated businesses, so an Indian EPC still cannot generate a GST-compliant invoice to its own customers from a HubSpot CRM record.
Yes. Invoice creation is a stage in the pipeline; the subscription itself is GST-invoiced too.
Leads and calling
Meta lead ads land in the system within minutes
Yes. Native Facebook and Instagram Lead Ads integration syncs new leads directly into HubSpot properties and can trigger workflows immediately on sync.
Yes. Ad leads arrive marked hot at the top of the calling queue inside five minutes.
PIN-code check on incoming leads
No. No PIN-code or geography-based serviceability check on incoming leads. Would require a custom property and workflow branch built by the customer.
Yes. Leads outside the PIN codes you serve are kept out of the AI caller's queue.
AI caller that qualifies leads and books visits
No. No AI voice-calling agent that dials and qualifies leads. Breeze's AI agents cover research, chat and CRM Q&A, not outbound AI voice calling.
Yes. Optional. Calls 9 am to 9 pm IST, books the visit on a named salesperson's day, hands off with notes.
Built-in telecalling queue with daily batches and outcomes
Partly. Sales Hub's prospecting workspace plus a power dialer give reps a daily call queue with logged call outcomes, but it is a generic sales-sequence queue rather than a purpose-built telecalling module with daily-batch assignment.
Yes. Queues built and ordered before the caller sits down; one outcome vocabulary for humans and the AI.
Lead outcomes written back to Meta
Partly. A native Meta Conversions API integration syncs HubSpot lifecycle-stage changes back to Meta for ad optimisation, but it only syncs events created after setup and only for HubSpot-native forms.
Yes. Qualified, converted and disqualified statuses flow back through the lead sheet into Meta's Conversions API, so the account optimises for buyers, not form-fillers.
WhatsApp messaging and automation
Partly. A native WhatsApp Business Account channel exists in the shared inbox with automation, but it is restricted to Marketing Hub or Service Hub Professional tier and above, and requires the customer to already hold a Meta WhatsApp Business API account.
Partly. Click-to-chat and logged WhatsApp interactions. No automated messaging.
Reporting
Owner dashboard: kW against target, cash due, stuck projects
Partly. Dashboards are fully custom-buildable with revenue and deal widgets, but there is no prebuilt kW-vs-target, cash-due or stuck-projects owner view since HubSpot has no kW or payment-schedule primitives to draw from.
Yes. Yes
Per-person monthly targets and attainment
Yes. Sales Hub's Goals feature lets managers set per-user, team or pipeline quotas with real-time attainment tracking and dedicated quota-attainment reporting; full per-rep quota functionality is gated to Sales Hub Enterprise, and Starter gets only a single Revenue-goal measure.
Yes. Yes
Ask the business a question in plain English
Yes. Breeze's Data Agent answers natural-language questions against live CRM data, such as 'which enterprise deals have stalled more than 30 days?'
Yes. Director and GM only. Finding, evidence, table, caveat, next step, from live data.
One-click export of everything
Yes. Standard list, report and contact export to CSV or Excel is a core CRM feature across all plans.
Yes. Excel export any time. No lock-in.
Data
Data hosted in India
No. HubSpot hosts on AWS in the US (East and West), Canada, Australia and the EU (Germany) only. No India data-centre option is offered.
Yes. Postgres in Mumbai (ap-south-1); documents in a private store.
Pricing and support
Pricing model
No. Pricing is per-seat, stacked with tiered feature Hubs and consumable AI credits — the opposite of Solar Spine's flat per-workspace, unlimited-user price.
Yes. Flat per company: ₹10,000 a month or ₹99,999 a year plus GST. Unlimited users.
Prices published in INR
No. All list prices on HubSpot's pricing pages are shown and billed in USD. No India-specific INR price list exists.
Yes. Yes
Free trial without a card
Yes. The Free CRM tier is permanently free with no credit card required and no expiration date. Paid Sales Hub tiers also offer a 14-day free trial of premium features.
Yes. 30 days, no card, no call.
Setup or onboarding fee
Yes. Sales Hub Professional carries a mandatory one-time $1,500 Professional Onboarding fee and Enterprise a mandatory one-time $3,500 fee. Free and Starter have no setup fee.
Yes. None. Send the filled setup form and the workspace configures itself.

Switching from HubSpot

  1. Export contacts, companies and deals from HubSpot via standard CSV export from any list or report view — a self-serve capability, not gated behind support.
  2. Import the CSV into Solar Spine as leads and customers via the bulk-upload tool on the Calling Queue and Customer sheets. Any custom properties you hand-built in HubSpot (e.g. system size in kW or DISCOM name) can be mapped to Solar Spine fields or created as custom fields during import.
  3. In parallel, stand up Solar Spine's solar stages, conditional checklists, kW capacity field, payment-schedule templates, DISCOM tracking and ops-verification document gates — the vertical workflow you either approximated with custom objects inside HubSpot or never fully built. This is the second and larger project, not the data move.
  4. HubSpot workflow automations, sequences and quote templates are proprietary and non-exportable — they cannot be migrated. Recreate them as Solar Spine stage rules, task automations and payment-schedule templates. WhatsApp conversation history sits with Meta or a third-party connector, not HubSpot, and migrates separately if at all.

Questions people ask

Can I use HubSpot and Solar Spine together?

Yes, though the two products do not talk to each other automatically. Some EPCs keep HubSpot running for marketing automation and website forms while running solar sales stages, project stages, payment schedules and DISCOM net-metering tracking in Solar Spine. Leads and deal data move from HubSpot to Solar Spine as a CSV export and bulk import, a one-way move rather than a live sync, so records created afterwards in Solar Spine do not flow back into HubSpot. For most EPCs evaluating both, this only makes sense as a transition step while winding a HubSpot subscription down, since Solar Spine's flat ₹10,000-a-month price already covers Meta lead intake into a calling queue without a separate marketing product.

Does Solar Spine replace a roof-design or shading-analysis tool?

No, and neither does HubSpot. Neither product designs a roof, models shading or generates an engineering proposal. EPCs typically run a dedicated design tool such as ARKA 360 or Aurora Solar for that stage, then move the qualified deal into whichever CRM runs execution. Solar Spine's job starts once a lead is qualified: it carries the deal through seven sales stages and 17 project stages, gated payment schedules, DISCOM net-metering tracking across seven electricity boards, and ops-verified document collection. If your EPC already pairs a design tool with HubSpot's generic pipeline, the same pairing works with Solar Spine handling operations in HubSpot's place, minus the custom build HubSpot would otherwise require.

Is there a direct integration between HubSpot and Solar Spine?

Not today. There is no live, automated sync between the two systems. Moving from HubSpot to Solar Spine, or running them side by side, means exporting contacts, companies and deals from HubSpot as a CSV from any list or report view, which HubSpot allows as a self-serve action, and importing that file into Solar Spine through the bulk-upload tool on the calling queue or customer sheet. Any custom properties built in HubSpot, such as system size in kW or a DISCOM name, can be mapped onto Solar Spine's native fields during that import. HubSpot's workflow automations and quote templates do not export and have to be rebuilt as Solar Spine stage rules and task automations.

Which is cheaper for a 12-person EPC?

For a 12-person EPC, Solar Spine costs ₹11,800 a month after 18% GST on its flat ₹10,000 price, for as many users as the workspace needs. HubSpot's cheapest paid tier, Sales Hub Starter, runs ₹1,680 per seat per month, which comes to ₹20,160 a month for 12 seats before GST; adding 18% GST brings the total to ₹23,789 a month. Solar Spine runs at roughly half the cost for a 12-person team and stays flat as headcount grows, where HubSpot's bill rises with every seat added. Neither figure includes HubSpot's Professional or Enterprise tiers, priced from ₹8,400 to ₹12,600 per seat per month before onboarding fees.

Where is my data hosted?

Solar Spine runs on Postgres hosted in Mumbai, in AWS's ap-south-1 region, with row-level security fencing each workspace's data from every other workspace on the same database. HubSpot hosts on AWS infrastructure in the US (both East and West regions), Canada, Australia or the EU (Germany), and publishes no India data-centre option on any plan. For an Indian EPC handling customer KYC documents and payment records, that means HubSpot data sits outside the country by default, while Solar Spine's documents stay in a private India-based store alongside the workspace's own database.

What happens if I need HubSpot's Marketing Hub on top of the CRM?

Marketing Hub is a separate HubSpot product with its own price and its own onboarding fee, not a bundled add-on to Sales Hub. Marketing Hub Professional runs ₹67,200 a month and Enterprise ₹3,02,400 a month, each carrying a mandatory one-time onboarding fee on top of that. An EPC that wants both Sales Hub and Marketing Hub is paying for, and setting up, two separate product layers. Solar Spine has no equivalent split: its flat ₹10,000-a-month price already covers the calling queue that Meta lead ads land in, the customer list, the project pipeline and role-based dashboards for every user from day one, with nothing extra to license for lead intake or reporting.

Run one real project through it this month. You will know by the end of it.

30 days free, no card, no call. Then ₹10,000 a month for the whole company, however many people you put on it.
